Why the director is most commonly viewed as the “author” of a film? The biggest reason is, that the director has role in shaping the film and its final outcome. The director makes a lot of on the spot and important decisions while on the set from day to day. The director plays a key role in all aspects of a film like about performance, staging, lighting, framing, cutting, and sound. This is important because even though producers are keeping tabs on the film, many of them are not involved in the day to day actives of the film. This is not to say the director is a “god”, because a good one will know how to utilize his crew to the best of its abilities. A director does this by delegating duties to trusted members of his team and spot checking to make sure the team is working to fulfil the vison of the film.
